Why we do not list an exact permit effect
Only one detailed explanation of the Black-Market Executive Permit could be found: a Japanese player guide to Ouroboros published on February 3, 2026. It is a genuine lead, but a single source is not enough to confirm specific numbers. Copying its figures into an English page would make one player's notes look like established fact.
The official Ouroboros announcement and Devolver's Ouroboros trailer describe the mode and its retention system but do not explain the permit. Update 1.6.6 adjusted how cleansed upgrades unlock, again without documenting the permit. So the permit's payout, cap, acquisition rate and exact use remain unverified here.
This is a deliberate choice, not an oversight. A precise answer needs a current in-game tooltip plus a second, independent account of using the item, and we will update this page when both exist.
The Ouroboros mode in brief
Ouroboros is the roguelite mode added to Mycopunk on December 17, 2025. In a run, your upgrades are rebuilt from scratch, which gives each attempt a different shape. The official description says some of what you find can be retained after the run.
The mode also introduced rarity categories that matter for understanding its shop. Contraband is exclusive to Ouroboros, while Oddity is a separate rarity. Knowing which label an item carries tells you a lot about whether it can leave the run.
Because the mode is built around rebuilding upgrades each run, its shop and retention systems shape almost every decision you make. That context is the reason players look for items like the permit in the first place. Understanding the surrounding rules helps you judge any shop item, even when its exact numbers are unknown.
Two currencies that are easy to confuse
Players on r/MycopunkGame explain that the purple shop currency in Ouroboros comes from scrapping upgrades during a run. This Scrap currency is what you spend in the mode's shop. It is distinct from the cost of retaining upgrades through Cleanse.
That distinction is the most useful verified fact for anyone researching the permit. Whatever the permit does, it sits inside a mode where shop spending and permanent retention use different resources. Mixing them up leads to wrong assumptions about what a shop item costs or gives back. When you read guides about the mode, check which currency they mean before following their advice.
Note that the community thread confirms the Scrap distinction only. It does not validate any amount or use for the permit itself.
How Cleanse and Contraband fit around the permit
Cleanse is the official way to make eligible upgrades permanent after an Ouroboros run. Since update 1.6.6 on January 20, 2026, cleansed upgrades arrive already unlocked, so no extra payment is needed afterwards. Contraband, by contrast, is defined as Ouroboros-exclusive and stays behind in the base game.
Our guide to keeping corrupted items goes through Cleanse step by step. It also explains the KeepContraband mod, which changes the base-game rule on PC.
How to check the permit in your own game
The quickest reliable answer is in your own game. When you have the permit, open its tooltip and read the current description carefully, including any limits or conditions. Tooltips reflect the version you are playing, which matters because Ouroboros has been adjusted since launch.
If you want to help confirm the details, note what happens when you use the permit. Record the game version, the tooltip text and the result, ideally with a screenshot. That kind of first-hand evidence is exactly what is missing from public sources today. Comparing two or three such reports is how a disputed detail usually gets settled.
- Open the permit's tooltip and note the exact wording.
- Record your game version and whether you are in an Ouroboros run.
- Use the permit and write down what changed, with a screenshot if possible.
- Send corrections through our contact page so we can compare reports.
Planning your Ouroboros run without guesswork
You do not need the permit's exact numbers to play Ouroboros well. Focus on the parts that are confirmed: Scrap comes from scrapping upgrades and is spent in the shop, and Cleanse is how eligible upgrades become permanent. Building your run around those two facts keeps your decisions sound even while the permit details are unclear.
When a shop item's value is uncertain, the safest approach is to read its tooltip before buying and compare it with what you need for the run. If an item's description does not clearly help your current loadout, it is reasonable to save your Scrap for something that does. This applies to the permit as much as to any other shop purchase.
Remember that Contraband stays inside Ouroboros in the base game. Spending heavily to collect Contraband will not carry those items into your normal loadout unless you are using a mod that changes the rule.
Why single-source answers are risky in Mycopunk
Mycopunk has been updated frequently since Early Access began on July 10, 2025. Ouroboros alone received changes after launch, including update 1.6.6, which changed how cleansed upgrades unlock. A detailed number recorded in early 2026 may no longer match the game you are playing.
That is why this wiki waits for corroboration before publishing item effects. When two independent players report the same tooltip and the same result in a known version, a claim becomes safe to publish. Until then, a clearly labelled “unverified” is more useful than a confident but outdated figure.
What we will not claim
We will not publish a payout amount, an item cap, a drop rate or a guaranteed way to farm the permit. We also will not describe a consumption procedure as confirmed. These are the details players most want, and they are exactly the details that lack independent support.
If you find a page that states precise permit numbers, check whether it cites a tooltip or simply repeats another guide. Two English pages summarising the same Japanese article would still be only one source.
