Does Mycopunk Have Cross Play Between PC and PS5?

Crossplay between Steam and PS5 was not confirmed in the official Mycopunk material checked on October 19, 2026. Both platforms launch together on October 20 and both support four-player co-op, but that does not establish a shared player pool. “Unconfirmed” is not the same as “never”: check the launch patch notes and official channels for a final answer.

The short answer: not confirmed

As of October 19, 2026, the official announcements and store pages checked for this guide do not confirm crossplay between PC and PS5. The PlayStation listing describes online co-op for up to four players, and the 1.0 announcements confirm the PC and PS5 launch date. Neither says that PC and PS5 players can join the same crew.

A third-party review of the official announcements, dated October 18, 2026, reached the same conclusion: no confirmed PC–PS5 crossplay. That review is useful as a cross-check, but the conclusion rests on the official sources themselves. We will revisit the answer as soon as launch information appears.

This page uses the word “unconfirmed” on purpose. Missing information does not prove the feature is technically impossible, and it may be clarified at or after launch.

What the official sources do say

The official PS5 listing confirms online co-op, solo play and that PlayStation Plus is required for online play. That tells you PS5 players can team up with other PS5 players. It does not, by itself, establish a shared pool with PC.

The official Japanese release announcement confirms both platforms and the October 20 launch date. Its checked text contains no crossplay or cross-progression commitment. Devolver's and PlayStation's release-date trailers list PC and PS5 without promising crossplay either.

Why we ignore crossplay rumours

A Reddit thread titled “Will there be crossplay?” includes a reply saying the commenter heard there would be crossplay. That is hearsay, with no link to an official statement, so it is excluded as confirmation.

If you see a quote from the developer about wanting crossplay, trace it back to the original post before relying on it. An aspiration is also different from a confirmed launch feature. This wiki will only report crossplay as available once official patch notes or announcements say so.

Why the question matters for Mycopunk

Mycopunk is built around co-op, with crews of up to four robots taking on missions together. PC players have had an Early Access community since July 10, 2025, and PS5 players arrive with the 1.0 launch on October 20, 2026. Whether those two groups can meet determines how easy it is for mixed groups of friends to play together.

It also affects how full lobbies feel on each platform. Until crossplay is confirmed, assume that PC and PS5 players find crews within their own platform.

Timeline of what has been announced

These are the official milestones checked for this guide. None of them includes a crossplay commitment, and we will revise the list if any of these sources is updated.

  • September 20, 2026: PlayStation and Devolver release-date trailers name PC and PS5.
  • September 21, 2026: official Japanese press release confirms both platforms and the date.
  • October 14, 2026: PlayStation Blog lists the PS5 version in the PS Plus catalog.
  • October 19, 2026: no crossplay confirmation found in official sources.

Cross-progression and Steam Cloud

Crossplay and cross-progression are different features. Crossplay is about playing together; cross-progression is about carrying your save between platforms. Neither was confirmed for Mycopunk in the sources checked.

On PC, the Steam store lists Steam Cloud. That keeps your saves in sync across your own PCs, but it is not a transfer to PlayStation. Do not expect your Early Access progress on Steam to appear on PS5 unless an official announcement says so.

If you plan to switch platforms for the 1.0 release, it is safest to assume for now that you will start fresh on the new platform.

Playing with friends on different platforms

Until crossplay is confirmed, the reliable approach is for your crew to pick one platform. Mycopunk supports four-player co-op on both PC and PS5, so a group that agrees on a platform gets the full co-op experience. Agreeing early also keeps everyone's progress in one place, since cross-progression is not confirmed either.

If your group is split, the PS5 version is in the PlayStation Plus Extra and Premium catalog from day one, which may make it easier for PlayStation members to join. Remember that online play on PS5 needs a PS Plus membership for each player.

  • All on PC: join through the in-game crew browser or invite friends.
  • All on PS5: each player needs PS Plus for online play.
  • Mixed platforms: wait for official confirmation before planning a session.

Mods, voice chat and mixed groups

On PC, Mycopunk supports mods, and since update 1.0.5 lobbies show when they are modded, with a host setting called Allow Modded Joiners. We found no verified way to mod the PS5 version. That is worth remembering for any future cross-platform session, because modded PC lobbies already follow their own rules.

For coordinating a split group, the official Mycopunk Discord works on any device. In-game voice chat was added in version 1.9 for PC; we have not verified how it behaves on PS5.

How to check after launch

Crossplay information most often appears in launch patch notes or official announcements. After October 20, check the official Steam announcements and the PlayStation game page for any mention of crossplay or cross-platform play. Those are the sources we will use to update this page.

In-game, the crew browser and friend invites are where you would test it in practice. If you confirm crossplay with a screenshot and your game version, please send it to us so we can update this guide.

What we will not claim

We will not say that crossplay is supported, and we will not say that it will never be supported. We also will not claim that Steam saves transfer to PS5, or treat Steam Cloud as cross-platform progression. Each of these would go beyond what the official sources say.

This page will be updated as soon as official information changes. Check the date at the top before relying on it, and if you read a confident claim either way elsewhere, check whether it links to an official source.
